What kind of Spanish do we teach?
Here's the good news: no matter what kind of Spanish you learn, you will be able to communicate all over the Spanish-speaking world.
Do the differences matter?
Yes, Spanish is a little different in different parts off the world, but these differences don't cause much trouble at all. It is similar to the magnitude of difference between Canadian English and Irish English. French is much more distinct between Quebec and France. Italian and German are different in northern regions than southern. Spanish is more consistent. If you learn Castillian or Mexican Spanish, you will also be able to enjoy using the language in Bolivia, Cuba, Argentina and even in the United States.
What are "dialects"?
Different, mutually comprehensible forms of the same language are called "dialects". They feature regional accents, word choices, and to a smaller accent, grammar. These distinctions will never cause you problems when you develop some ability to us Spanish. You will communicate with many diverse cultures in more than 20 countries. Your world will be so much bigger!
International Spanish
Since 1994, we have had teachers from different countries, and we focus on standard, educated Latin American Spanish. Our students have used their Spanish in Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America and with immigrants from all over the world. We avoid regional quirks, yet we enjoy learning distinctive features of the language in various parts of the world: dormitorio/recámara, durazno/melocotón, manejar/conducir, coche/carro/auto, tú/vos/Ud./Uds./vosotros, agarrar/coger (!!!)
