What is your level of proficiency?
We categorize students in 6 proficiency levels, from A1 (lowest) to C2 (highest).
Look at these proficiency levels to see which one describes you best. You don't have to be 100% accurate and correct, but this information helps us provide the right lessons for you and, if you are in a group class, to put you with other people at the same level. If you are an absolute beginner with no language skill, you can describe yourself as "Absolute Beginner".
A1 - Beginner
- You can understand and use very basic expressions in predictable situations.
- You can introduce yourself and ask others questions about personal details.
- You can interact with a speaker of your target language as long as the other person speaks slowly and clearly.
A2 - Elementary
- You can understand frequently used expressions when discussing recurring topics such as shopping, family, employment, etc.
- You can handle routines and the simple, direct exchange of information.
- You can describe your basic, immediate needs in simple terms.
B1 - Intermediate
- You can understand simple conversation about family, work, school or recreation.
- You can deal with most travel situations in areas where the language is spoken.You can create simple texts on topics of personal interest.
- You can simply and briefly describe experiences, events, dreams, ambitions, as well as your opinions and your plans for the future.
B2 - Upper Intermediate
- You can understand the main ideas of a conversation or a complex text related to a field that you know.
- You can spontaneously interact without causing too much strain for either another learner or a native speaker.
- You can produce a detailed text on a wide range of subjects.
C1 - Advanced
- You can understand a wide range of longer and more demanding texts or conversations
- You can express ideas without much searching.
- You can effectively use the language for social, academic or professional situations.
- You can create well-structured and detailed texts on complex topics.
C2 - Mastery
- You can understand almost everything read or heard with ease.
- You can summarize information from a variety of sources into a clear explanation.
- You can express yourself using precise meaning in complex scenarios.
